I’m Ally Campbell, and I’m your 2011/12 Education and Welfare Officer. I can offer advice and support to students facing academic offence hearings for a breach of assessment regulations (such as plagiarism, collusion, or cheating). I can assist you in your preparation for your hearing, attend the meeting with you or on your behalf, and discuss your options afterwards. I can also advise and support students through appeals and complaints procedures, which are initiated by students who feel mistreated by the university or believe a university decision is not justified. There are also less formal channels for raising these issues, for which I can also offer advice, support and representation. I also advise students on non-academic issues – accommodation, finance, sex, relationships, medical, childcare, bullying, harassment, campus issues, employment, and so much more! Whilst I’m not an expert in each of these areas, I can put you in touch with colleagues (SU and University) who are. |

The Students’ Union represents students at institutional level, as all your sabbatical officers sit on a number of university committees, panels and boards. A key way for you to get involved is through our Student Rep scheme, which focuses on course and campus experiences. This provides your sabbs with student views to present to the university with the aim of improving your university experience and the education you receive. For more information on Student Reps go to www.yourstudentsunion.com/reps.
