► Sabbatical Officers

The Students' Union is a student led organisation where our membership have the opportunity to influence the decisions our organisation makes. An important element of this input comes from our executive who are elected each year. Any student can stand in the elections and vote. This year the executive is made up of 3 full time paid sabbatical officers and 5 part time unpaid execs.

Meet your President...

Chris Rogers

Hey Everyone,

I'm Chris Rogers, I am 22 years old and I am graduating in Business Management. I am originally from Gravesend, Kent and my passions are football, socialising and food :-D

My role as your President is to represent the student body on committees and boards ensuring every single student is represented. Also as President I manage all of the societies within our University. I am now into my 5th year and I wouldn't change a thing (Except maybe my bank balance)! Having started University in 2007, it was a great honour to be elected as your SU President, and as a Students' Union, we understand that University is not just about education, it is creating the priceless moments in life that you will never forget.

Get Involved - SU Love!

You can contact Chris by email at crogers@glos.ac.uk or by phoning him on 01242 714369 or you can find his office at the Park Students. Union.

Meet your Sports Officer...

Andy Lewis

Hi All,

My name is Andy Lewis and I'm the new Sports Officer at the University of Gloucestershire Students' Union for the 2011/12 academic year. This is now my fourth year here at UoG and I have met some incredible people along the way. Through the Students' Union I have had some amazing memories which I will remember for a long time including winning the BUCS National Football trophy at Bramall Lane (Sheffield) in 2010.

My role is to oversee the running of all 34 sports clubs we cater for here at the Union, and to work closely with the Sports and Exercise department and the University to ensure that you are getting the most out of the sporting opportunities offered here at Gloucestershire. However, I am also heavily involved in other areas of the Union by representing students, running our events and entertainment and generally offering support and guidance, so if you need to chat to me about something completely non-sports based, then I'm here to help you as well.

My main aims to achieve this year are:

  • To increase the amount of sporting opportunities and social sports that we offer our students across all 3 campuses; sport is not just for Oxstalls students!!
  • Finish in the top 30 of the BUCS Nationals Tables which is a very challenging task for a Uni of our size, but one that we can definitely achieve.
  • To communicate better to students and the local community about the great work our clubs and students do.

It doesn't matter if you're not the next England international or someone who wants a kick around with their mates, we have something for everybody so come and get involved in YOUR STUDENTS' UNION!

Blue and Blue x

You can contact Andy by email at alewis@glos.ac.uk or by phoning him on 01242 715189 or you can find him in his office at the Oxstalls Students' Union.

Meet your Education and Welfare Officer...

Ally Campbell

Hi Everyone,

I'm Ally Campbell, and I'm your Education and Welfare Officer for 2011/12. I'm 23 and studied Media, Communication and Culture at Pittville Campus, and I'm originally from a town near Nottingham. I'm scared of spiders and falling, and I hate the squeaky noise that polystyrene makes.

As your Education & Welfare Officer, I'm here to support, advise and represent all students on all issues. My job is so varied and every day is different, ranging from sexual health (I can give you free condoms and Chlamydia tests!), alcohol awareness, academic offences, institutional complaints and appeals, the SU course reps system, and much more! Being elected into this job is the biggest compliment ever, and I'm honoured to be part of the SU family!

As a student I wasn't really involved in the SU until my final year, which is when I realised how much I'd missed out on. The student experience is about more than your degree, and involvement in the SU is a great way to enhance your time at UoG and shape exactly what it means to be a student here! So come and say hi, and tell us what we can do for you!

Have a fantastic year, and don't be a stranger! x

You can contact Ally by email at acampbell@glos.ac.uk or by phoning her on 01424 714781 or you can find her in her office at Park Students' Union.
