► Student Reps

Student Reps are your link to feeding back on your Student Experience to the University. Course reps represent their cohort on courses and academic issues such as lecture times and resources. Campus reps represent their cohort on campus and experience issues such as on campus catering or parking.

Every course at every level should have at least one of each type of rep. If you hava an issue specifically about your course or the University in general, you can take it to your Student Rep and they will be able to voice it to the University via the various committees. They are also the ones the University asks when they want a student opinion, so it's important to tell them what you think. If you don't know who your rep is, take a look at your departments' student rep board, contact the Union, or your course leader.

Any student can put themselves forward to be a Student Rep; here are some reasons why you should:

• Learn new skills to improve your CV.

  • • Be a part of committees and working groups that give you a direct say in how the University is run.
  • • Speak out, make changes and leave your mark!
  • • Meet lots of different people and make new friends.
  • • Sit on top University meetings that will expand your knowledge
  • • Receive a Student Rep Certificate and possible accreditation within the Employable Gloucestershire Graduate Scheme,
  • • Write articles for the Space Student Newspaper or voice the student opinion on Tone Radio.
  • • You get all the above for attending approximately two meetings a month!
  • Reps for each course and level will be selected in the first few weeks of term. You can volunteer by speaking to your course leader or tutor. They will usually announce this in class. Once you have become a Student Rep you will receive training and support from the Students’ Union and will be able to get involved with lots of different aspects of the Union. So get in touch!

  • If you have any questions about being a rep, training, or you need some advice, don’t hesitate to contact us!
