Welcome to Varsity 2011. After the massive success of the 2010 Varsity series, we’ve set out this year to make sure that we maintain the higher profile that Varsity has now achieved. Once again we’ve been on the hunt for top class venues & facilities, with St George’s Lane hosting the Women’s Football and Kingsholm hosting the Women’s Rugby. After multiple promotions last year, this season has proven a challenging one, but one which our teams in Blue have risen to. We’ve maintained a number of our league positions as well as achieving more promotions across the board. We’ve also had a number of great cup runs including sending 2 teams up to the BUCS Nationals. Our teams are now 100% focussed on Varsity though, hoping to make it 4 victories in a row and our 5th of the 6 against Worcester-no pressure then! Varsity provides a thrilling end to our year and last year’s series saw a fantastic atmosphere, with a friendly rivalry across the fixtures for both Universities, home and away. We look forward to welcoming Worcester’s Players and Supporters to our home legs of the series and I hope to see many of you across the series from campus to stadium. Come on Gloucestershire, Blue & Blue, Through & Through.
PLEASE NOTE:- A full Varsity programme has been produced for Varsity 2011 and is priced at £2, containing full details on all fixtures and teams competing in this year’s varsity with an input from all team and club captains and interviews from SU staff members. This programme will be available at all fixtures.
