► Fairtrade Fortnight 2012

Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 – 27th February – 9th March

The University of Gloucestershire Students’ Union is proud to be part of a Fairtrade University. The work that is done within the Union and University, in partnership with our caterers Baxter Storey, is a true representation of our collective believes and commitments to this fantastic cause.

Fairtrade is all about ensuring there are better prices, working conditions, improved local sustainability and fair trading terms for farmers and workers across the developing world. Fairtrade requires companies to pay sustainable prices, addressing the injustices of conventional trade, showing our support for the weakest and poorest producers. This enables these produces to improve their position and have more control over their own quality of living.

Each year, the Union runs a series of events in collaboration with the University and Baxter Storey to raise awareness of Fairtrade, and increase engagement across the University in the cause. This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from the 27th February until the 9th March. Please keep an eye on these pages for updates on events and activities that you can take part in across the University and the local community.
