So summer is over and the sun is disappearing. What do we do now the cold weather has appeared? Well I’ll tell you what! Lock yourself inside with your TV and enjoy all the fantastic new series and shows to keeping you entertained throughout autumn and winter!

First up let’s mention those ruddy good American shows that are back. The 4th series of Modern Family started on the 27th September. If you haven’t already clocked on to this programme already, I highly suggest you do. It is hilariously entertaining, with characters you can’t help but love. At the end of the previous series Gloria shocked us all by announcing she was pregnant. Obviously, we can expect each family member to react differently to the news. We can tell from the teaser trailer Claire is happy at the thought of how fat Gloria is going to get and everyone seems surprised that Jay still has it in him. We still haven’t seen Jay’s reaction yet though so there’s plenty to look forward to!

Another programme coming back for a second series is the brilliant American Horror Story, this time with the subtitle ‘Asylum’. It starts again in mid October and from what creator Ryan Murphy has revealed, it is completely different from the first series. The story from the previous season has been left behind as well as the theme of ghosts and haunted homes and the new story is set in an asylum for the criminally insane. No need to fear though, the new series still has a fair few of the original cast members playing new characters. Jessica Lange is set to play the Nun that runs the asylum. Also returning will be Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe, whose characters are still a mystery. A new addition to the cast is strangely Maroon 5 lead singer, Adam Levine. Not quite someone I would picture for this series, but still it will be interesting to see how it all plays out!
Another important programme returns for its 3rd season is the fantastic Downton Abbey. This British Drama has had everyone hooked since the start and the new series is set to be as successful. Having just started again on the 16th September, so far is revealed that Martha Levinson arrives and tries to interfere, whereas Lord Grantham is preoccupied with the ever mounting debt against his estate.
With all these great shows set to return as well as plenty of other TV goodies, I don’t know why anyone would want to leave the sofa this winter!
