STYLE GUIDLINES

  • Acronyms: Spell out acronyms in full for the first time of use, unless abbreviation is better known than what it stand for i.e. BBC. If you have to refer to the organisation more than once, use its name in full on the first mention, with its acronym in brackets immediately afterwards. For example: "The University of Gloucestershire Students' Union (UGSU) is brilliant. UGSU is great because..."
  • Mentions of the University: When referring to 'the University of Gloucestershire', give its full name in the first mention and, in future mentions, refer simply to 'the University', keeping the 'U' upper case.
