Mitigating Circumstances

Mitigating circumstances are unforeseen factors which limit your ability to study and effectively partake in an assessment.

As a student at the University of Gloucestershire you are entitled to one 48 hour extension request for coursework over each academic year. To use a 48 hour extension request a student must make a claim on or before the date of submission through student records.

If unforeseen mitigating circumstances such as a short illness affect your ability to submit work and you wish to request an extension of up to three weeks please request more than a 48 hour extension request, short term extension. You will need to upload independent third party evidence, of your mitigating circumstances, which is relevant to your assignment submission date, such as a doctor's letter or letter from your employer, when you make your request. The Helpzone will then consider your request and based on the evidence you provide either accept your request and authorise an appropriate new date or reject the request.
