This year’s tour is sure to live up to the previous reputations. Details of this year’s tour, can be acquired by contacting our social sec Dani Cowley.
Tour this year saw the team head back to Porec Croatia. Only four members of the team went on tour, Philippa, Dani, Andy and Harry. But the team were paired up with three members of UoG American Football. The week was once again an incredible and a great way to bond with other members of UoG sport teams.
Pula Croatia was an amazing experience. It was a great week on tour, even if you look past the 27-hour coach trip! We had ten members of the team go on tour this year. The members of the team included Philippa, Alex C, Rachel, Lauren, Adam, Alex, Matt, Gabe, Roy and Harry. A combination of various themed night outs and the occasional sport, made for one eventful week. The trip was topped off by a day out in the nearby city of Pula.
This year we bucked the trend and instead venture across Europe to Porec, Croatia. We had 8 members who went in the end: Tamzin, Philippa, Alex, Duncan, Quek, Ryan, Adam and Kathryn. Most of the other sports teams went the same week as us so it was great to party every night with all our close friends! Some of the themed nights out included Lifeguards, Night at the Museum, T-Birds and Pink Ladies and Tight and Bright! It was yet again another fantastic week away, let's hope we can top it once again next year!
This year we went back to Salou, it was such a huge success last year and we all had a great time and really loved it. We kept the same idea of putting people into families so that we can get to know other members of badminton more as this worked really well. We provided a large range of activities for the coach journey to make sure that time flies! We made sure that the movie options were not just watching ‘Pitch Perfect’ and ‘P.S I love you’ over and over again!
We kept the tour rules basically the same as last year, as these worked really well, and also kept the same games that we played throughout the day. We had a fantastic tour last year as well as this year.
This year was our first time on tour, it was a 6am start accompanied by some bevvies. A coach took us from Cheltenham to Salou (which isn’t as bad as it sounds, especially when you’re with your Badders family). We managed to arrive just in time for a few cocktails on the beach which went down very nicely, with quick swim for the Freshers! Every night out is themed; the first night was ‘tight, bright and sparkly’ to which we definitely all met the criteria.
Our first full day we had a look around Salou; getting to know the place and what it had to offer. We played sports and other activities on the beach. We then headed back to the hotel to have a lounge around the pool before getting ready for the second night out. Freshers were robbers and everyone else was cops, although we spent pre drinks all searching for Holly’s lost room key, something we will try and avoid next year. The second day was tournament day which we went on to win; doesn’t matter if we were the only team to turn up, still counts! After this we prepared for the Pacha big night out, where we dressed up as our family animals, which had been arranged prior to leaving for tour.
For our last day, we spent some time on the beach relaxing and catching up until we were told our surprise night out theme, ABC (anything but clothes), and had to run around Salou trying to find an outfit to fit the theme. The best thing about tour was that it definitely made us become a close Badders family and created memories that last, until the morning after.
