A note from your SU…
Student health and wellbeing are an absolute priority to us and we will continue to monitor updates and developments. The SU is regularly meeting with University of Gloucestershire to discuss any developments on the virus and we are also following all the guidance from Public Health England, who are the authority on this situation. Please be assured we will respond to the official advice and guidance as it becomes available.
Latest advice is that there is no need to contact NHS 111, unless your symptoms are severe, or worsening over a period of days. If you do need medical help, you can contact NHS 111 here.
If you are self-isolating please let UoG know by contacting completing the COVID-19 Student Declaration Form so that they can arrange appropriate support.

University of Gloucestershire Latest Advice
Current SU status:
In line with the recent Government advice, it is expected SU staff will be working from home from Tuesday 18th March 2020. We’ll keep you up to date if this changes at all and your first point of contact for anything that you’d normally come to see us about is to email email@example.com.
We expect to be able to continue supporting students through online channels including email and social media, the full details of which can be found below.
What does this mean for other things at UoG?
We’re in really regular contact with the University who are working hard to make relevant preparations to enable teaching and learning to move online as you will have read about in their most recent communication. To keep up to date with this you should check information that is posted on MyGlos and emails that the University are sending out.
We know that a number of our members live on campus or near to University and access to other services is really important for them. We’re working with UoG and they are ensuring that services like accommodation, security, libraries, HelpZones and catering are still open for those of you who will be on campus during the coming weeks. The best way to keep up-to-date on this is again by checking MyGlos regularly.
If you have any queries regarding these services, please contact the Helpzones at firstname.lastname@example.org
We have been working really hard behind the scenes, not wanting to make snap decisions but following government advice and national developments in Sport. We now feel we have no choice but to postpone Varsity. We know that you will all be very disappointed, as are we, but we must put your health and wellbeing first; that is paramount and comes above all other considerations. We will be working with Worc to see if we can make alternative arrangements later on in the year, even if that may not be on the same scale. Please bear with us as we enter unprecedented times.
If you have bought tickets for Varsity events, you will, of course, be entitled to a refund and we will communicate with you shortly as to how we will manage that as it will be quite an undertaking for us.
At present and in line with government guidance, all our social activities have been cancelled for this term. We are currently exploring opportunities to run online events to keep everyone in touch and entertained in the coming weeks so watch this space.
If you have purchased a ticket for one of our events, you will be emailed regarding a refund.
BUCS has recently sent out an update to all Universities that any BUCS activity, both sporting and non-sporting, will be suspended from 23.59hrs on Tuesday 17 March 2020 until 09.00hrs Wednesday 1 April 2020. We’ll be following this guidance and also calling off all UoGSU team training events going forward.
You can still contact our SU team by emailing email@example.com, or messaging us on Facebook: University of Gloucestershire Students' Union or Instagram: uogstudentsunion as we continue to work on student priorities including:
- Communicating with students about academic breaches
- Working closely with the University to ensure the student voice is heard
- Payments on behalf of Sports & Societies
- Supporting Student Reps
- Delivering our campaign work
We have taken the decision to close of physical SU shops for the time being, and are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. If you would like to get in touch with us, the best way to do so for now is via email.
