One in every 3 drinks cans sold in the UK is drunk outside the home. The metal these cans are made from is endlessly recyclable, so it’s important that it is saved rather than dumped. Especially when you consider that each can could be recycled and be back on sale as another can – in just 60 days. Every drinks can recycled cuts the carbon footprint of the next can made – so every can recycled really does count!
This week some new bins will be appearing in the refectories and coffee pods across the campuses! This is to promote the recycling of drink cans and foil for the Oakley Adult Opportunity Centre in Cheltenham.
This gives service users of the Oakley Centre the opportunity to do meaningful activities and to give something back to the environment by saving waste going into landfills. They then sort, crush and sell the cans and foil. The money they make is put into their amenity fund for special occasions such as Christmas, summer activities, and it also helps them to purchase equipment for their Centre.
Remember, every can counts! So make sure to look out for our new recycling bins across all campuses and help your local community!
