Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) is a growing field of research into historical weapons and systems of combat. Everyone in HEMA community is interested in different things, but all of us have something in common - we are in love with all things cutting, slicing and piercing. People from around the globe dedicate their time and effort to studying and recreating old styles of combat, and then putting it into practice. Our society does exactly that, we study historical manuals of Fiore dei Liberi, a 14th century Italian swordmaster. We focus primarily on longsword, though cover some of his materials on dagger plays too.
Whether you are a HEMA enthusiast, a history lover or just curious - you are welcome to attend one of our sessions, which usually run from 6pm to 8pm on Fridays, Park campus, room TC007 (this may be a subject to change). We are looking forward to seeing you.
