Top Tip #1 - Know Your Academic Regulations
The academic regulations set out the rules you must follow in your academic studies throughout your time at the University of Gloucestershire (UoG); so it’s pretty important stuff and a good idea to get to know them!
How do I access the academic regulations?
You can access the academic regulations via www.glos.ac.uk/docs. The academic regulations are updated each year so it’s important you refer to the correct ones; normally the academic regulations for the current academic year. The only exception to this is if these academic regulations are less favourable than the academic regulations for the year in which you started your course, in which case the academic regulations for the year in which you started our course will be applied.
How do they apply to me?
The academic regulations apply to everyone studying at UoG and by enrolling with the university you have confirmed that you understand and accept the academic regulations; so it’s important that you familiarise yourself with them. For some professional courses, the academic regulations do include approved variations (e.g. teaching, social work) and a list of these approved variations can be found in appendix 1 - make sure you take a look at these to see if any of them apply to you. There are separate academic regulations for research degree provision (MRes, MA/MSc by Research, PhD etc.), so make sure you’re using the right ones.
More information on what the academic regulations are and how they apply to you can be found in Section 1 (Scope) of the Academic Regulations for Taught Provision. We’ve also got lots of info about the Academic Regulations in our SU Study Smart campaign, but if you’ve still got questions, feel free to email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
